MEET SAM

WHO IS

SAM BERGER?

Assemblymember Berger is a proud husband, and father of two young daughters. Their presence fuels his determination to make Queens a haven where children of any background can prosper. His personal and professional experiences have equipped him with the knowledge and the desire to work tirelessly for his community.

Sam's decision to run for the Assembly in 2023 stems from his belief in the power of the law and how it can affect lives. With Sam's legal background and community-focused perspective, he has successfully navigated the complexities of Albany and enacted laws that benefit his community.

His vision for District 27 is grounded in addressing three key issues: education, public safety, and affordability. Sam believes that education is the bedrock of a prosperous community. Raised in a family that valued education, Sam aims to improve the quality of both public and private education, while also advocating for after-school programs.

Sam passionately advocates for policies that make New York an affordable place to live, nurturing personal growth for all. He will push back against Albany’s high taxes, and New York’s nickel and diming of working-class families. Sam recognizes the pressing need for well-paying jobs that can sustain families, reinforcing the fabric of our local community.

Public safety, a significant concern, is also a priority for Sam. He will fight for your family like they are his own, because he is raising his family alongside yours in the neighborhood. His experiences in the Queens County Supreme Court Criminal term, particularly with gun crimes, underscore his commitment to this issue.

Assemblymember Sam Berger is a dedicated community advocate, a law school graduate, and a devoted father who currently represents District 27 (previously held by Assemblyman Dan Rosenthal) in Queens, New York. This district encompasses Pomonok, Electchester, Kew Gardens Hills, Forest Hills, College Point, and Whitestone.

Born and raised in District 27, Sam is deeply ingrained in the community. He was inspired by his upbringing and family, who themselves have contributed significantly to the district: his father serves as the president of a local elementary school, and his mother, a teacher, also acts as a local district leader.

Sam is a product of the very community he represents in Albany. After studying abroad in Israel, he returned to his roots, earning his bachelor's degree and then studying law at St. John's University in Queens. His professional experience includes externships with the Kings County Surrogate’s Court, and the Queens County Supreme Court Criminal Term.

Sam plans to tackle challenges such as hate crimes, car theft, robberies, and quality of life crimes. He also aims to address the need for more police resources, which he believes will greatly improve public safety.

WHY AM I RUNNING?

I stand before you not just as your Assemblyman, but as a proud member of this community. I was born and raised here, attended elementary school here, and pursued my legal education in our community. Now, I am raising my two little girls here because this has been, and will always be my home.

Through my deep connection to this community, I have witnessed firsthand the unique challenges and specific issues that our district faces. I understand what our community wants, and more importantly, what it needs. We all share a common goal: to ensure the safety and well-being of our homes, schools, streets, and families.

To achieve this, we must provide our dedicated police force with the necessary resources to maintain the safety and security of our neighborhoods. Our children deserve access to after-school programs that enrich their lives and a quality education taught by exceptional teachers. As a parent myself, I know the importance of investing in our future generations.

I am committed to prioritizing policies that make New York an affordable place to live and thrive. Our families and our community deserve good jobs that provide a living wage, ensuring financial stability for all.

Additionally, our seniors, who have contributed so much to our community, deserve the best possible care and support. I am determined to fight for policies and programs that allow our seniors to retire with dignity, knowing that they will receive the respect and assistance they deserve.

As your representative, I will continue my work to introduce legislation aimed at enhancing the well-being and quality of life in our neighborhoods. I pledge to be your relentless advocate, tirelessly working to address the issues that matter most to you. Together, we can build a brighter future for our community.

Thank you for your support.
